10 Random Things About Me
So this is only my third blog post, and I realized that you don't really know much about me. Now I know it's only the third week of school (right?) and us college student are just now getting settled in a routine of our classes, some of us having exams coming up (I have 2 next week, ew), and others may be tied down to papers and lab reports. But nonetheless it's still the beginning of the school year, and I thought what better way to share things about myself than by doing "10 Random Things About Me"! So, here it goes.
1. I used to play soccer.
I know in class I mentioned that I like to run, but my first love was soccer. At 3 years old, that's typically the age that your parents put you in any and every sport, and I think they do this for 2 reasons: 1) they need to tire you out since you have endless amounts of energy; and 2) they want to see which sport you take a liking to (if you take a liking to any of them). Well, that's exactly what my mom did with me. After ballet, cheer, and countless other sports, I took a liking to soccer. From then, the rest was history. Many soccer games, tournaments, trainings, camps, clinics, and physical therapy were in store for me, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. After playing for 15 years, I finally said goodbye to my favorite sport in Fall 2019. However, playing soccer has actually helped me off the field, as I am now a soccer coach for younger kids. Here's a pic of little me playing some soccer:
2. I like to read.
I really like to read. While I am busy most of the time with school, homework, work, and just life in general, I do like to pick up a book whenever I can and read it. My love for reading kind of got revived during quarantine, mainly because I didn't have anything to do. This past summer I read 9 books in total; and while that may not seem like a lot, I consider it a lot for me. I don't have a specific genre that I gravitate towards, so I like pretty much anything...within fiction, that is. I feel like reading can take you to so many places, and you get to think and feel so many things. It takes you out of reality for a second. I think that's why I like to read a lot, especially in this time where everything seems super stressful. But if anyone has some book recommendations, do send them my way!
3. I have two dogs.
They're both miniature dachshunds, and they are so cute! Their names are Oscar and Emmi, and while they may be a handful, they are truly good dogs.
I got Oscar in January of 2016, and at the time, he was only three months old. He had paws too big for his body and a tiny little nose; he was just the cutest thing ever. Now, he's all grown and is 5 years old. He does bark at a lot of things, especially things on wheels (literally anything on wheels except for cars), and he still has the same amount of energy as he did when he was a puppy. But, he's my dog, and I wouldn't trade him for the world.
I got Emmi in September of 2018; we actually rescued her from the shelter, and she's our little old lady. My mom and I don't really know how old she is, but judging by her grey fur, she's probably nine years old. She a cuddle buddy and loves to sleep. She's always looking for a lap to sit on or a blanket to burrow in. She loves her walks, and she's just living life.
4. I like Grey's Anatomy.
Oh my gosh, don't even get me started. I'm honestly surprised they're going on eighteen seasons, but hey I can't complain. I started watching it in high school, but with sports and school, I just had no time. I didn't watch it again until last fall, and sure enough my interest for it was still there. I do have to agree that it is very, very dramatic; but I can't help that. I also think that's where I became interested in the medical field too, and while that isn't the best source of real medicine, it still pulled me in, so I'll take it. September 30th is the season 18 premiere and I'm so excited! Okay, enough about this or I'll keep on it forever.
5. I live for sunsets.
They are just so beautiful! My camera roll is filled with so many sunsets, it's insane. They just provide so much serotonin and relaxation. It's also so crazy to think that something so beautiful is able to exist at the same time we exist. Here's a picture of one I took at the beach this past summer:
6. My favorite color is purple.
I especially like light purples and lavender. The color is just so calming and peaceful. I also like pastel and neon colors, just because they're so bright and cheery.
7. I don't like coffee.
Nope, not one bit. I know a lot of people that do, and I have tried it before, but I just can't drink it. I'm definitely more of a tea person than anything. I don't even like coffee-flavored things, that's how much I don't like it. Now even though I don't like coffee, I'm always down to go to Starbucks. A simple refresher for tea are always my go-to.
8. I think cotton candy is gross.
I don't care what others think, I really don't care for it. It used to be my favorite when I was little, but I guess over the years I started to dislike it. The classic
9. My music taste is all over the place.
It's kind of always been like that. I listen to Pop and R&B the most, but I also like some rap, reggaetón, and indie. My favorite music artists as of right now are Post Malone, Daniel Caesar, Labrinth, and Ruel. My current favorite song is "Super Rich Kids" by Frank Ocean; it's constantly stuck in my head. I'm always open to music suggestions because I always get what I call "music-bored", so if you have any do let me know!
10. One of my favorite restaurants is Sophia's Pancake House.
My favorite breakfast food are pancakes, and the restaurant name is just so fitting! I also like it a lot because my family and I always go there for my birthday every year. In my opinion, pancakes are best served with bacon and orange juice, and topped with strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream (the best part). Cracker Barrel pancakes are also really good, but I am always down for Sophia's.
And that's me! I could go on and on, listing more facts, but I think that's enough right now. So, until next blog :) !

hey sofia! this is such a great blog post idea, I'm glad you shared all of this with us! I love Grey's Anatomy too! I watched it all in like 2 months everyday after school I'd just binge watch it on Netflix hahah. All the deaths really hit me hard I even cried sometimes, not George's though they kinda cut him off early. I also am not that big of a fan of coffee. I love those coffee flavored Werther's candies though.
ReplyDeleteHi Sofia, thanks for telling us a bit more about yourself. I also played soccer for a number of years but not quite as long as you did. I am very sorry for you to hear that you don't like coffee, it is truly an amazing thing.
