My Life Before COVID-19

It's kind of hard to remember, isn't it? Life before a worldwide pandemic...what were you doing then? For me, everything stopped so abruptly. It all came to a halt, and it left me with the thought, "what happens next?" During the time, I was in what I consider the main part of senior year. Second semester, just starting track season, figuring what prom dress I want, and squaring away the final touches on college. Since all of you know me only through college, let me take you back to before college, and most importantly before covid:

February 24, 2020:

This was a great day, so let me provide some background information: my friend in the middle is a very good runner, and she somehow convinced me to do track and field. Now being a soccer player, it wasn't that big of a deal. But let me tell you, running in soccer is very very different that running in track and field. Anyways, on this day we went to Wabash College to run in a track and field showcase. This was my first meet ever, and it was awesome! It was a day filled with smiles, chaos, tears, and overall memories.

March 10, 2020:

This was taken 4 days after my birthday. This is my friend Maddie, and we've been friends for as long I can remember (fun fact: she's at PNW too!). We played soccer together throughout childhood and high school, and she's one of my closes friends. This picture was taken in my art class for a flyer that my school was creating for a school function. This was 4 days before the world practically shut down.

March 13, 2020:

This day was so surreal. This picture was taken on my senior class retreat. That retreat was one of the best experiences so far. We had no phones, no contact with the outside world. The other people in this picture were with me in my "small group", and I still keep in contact with them today.  It was only us and nature, and it was so relaxing and incredible. It served as a time where our senior class was together for one last time... little did we know it really was our last time together.
On this day, we found out our school was closing for 2 weeks because of COVID. The 2 weeks tuned into 2 months, and soon after the rest of the school year. Then prom was cancelled, and soon after graduation. This picture was quite literally the last time I saw these people, and man do I miss them a lot. But this retreat will forever be in my heart, and I will cherish these people forever.

And that's a little glimpse of "life before COVID." Now, my life looks so different because of the many changes that took place. But if I'm being honest, I wouldn't have it any other way. I feel like the events humbled me in a way; it made me learn not to take life for granted and to cherish all the memories.
